The Banditi vs Jacinto Canek

The Banditi è la naturale evoluzione degli Jacinto Canek, che esordirono proprio con l’album “Banditi” (Cinico Disincanto) nel 2007. La title track è diventata poi una connotazione della band, una caratteristica così forte da portare il gruppo a pubblicare il secondo album proprio con questo nome.

Attivi dal 2002, i The Banditi sono una band composta da sei elementi provenienti da città diverse (Verona, Roma e Terni) che ora vivono nella capitale.

Come Jacinto Canek hanno pubblicato nel 2007 l’album “Banditi”, promosso da un tour di oltre cento concerti tra Italia, Slovenia, Croazia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia e Bulgaria, che ha coinvolto critica e pubblico con crescente attenzione.

Il loro sound ha conquistato Bill Gould, bassista dei Faith No More e label manager della Koolarrow Records; grazie anche a lui è nata la collaborazione con i Kultur Shock (Seattle – USA) che ha permesso ai Banditi di conquistare  il mercato estero attraverso una serie di concerti insieme alla band americana.

Tra di loro, una sorta di affinità naturale che affonda le radici nei suoni della tradizione popolare, nel rock e nella travolgente vivacità delle esibizioni live.

Lo stile singolare dei Banditi ha conquistato nel 2007 anche Margarita Jimeno (regista americana autrice del celebre documentario “Gogol Bordello Non-Stop”) che ha realizzato il primo videoclip, “Mio Nonno”.

Nel 2009 matura la scelta di cambiare nome: Jacinto Canek diventano The Banditi.

Achtung!

Il nuovo album “Achtung!”, prodotto da Hannes Jaeckl, è uscito in Italia nel gennaio del 2011 per Cinico Disincanto, a un mese di distanza dall’uscita in Germania, Austria, Svizzera e Balcani. Achtung! E’ distribuito in Italia da Halidon e all’estero da Zyx. La distibuzione digitale è a cura di Believe. Grafiche e sito curati dall’agenzia web Fornace.

Il nuovo lavoro è un’esplosione di suoni duri e arrabbiati, in cui il rock si apre a differenti generi musicali: dal punk all’elettronica, dalle sonorità mediterranee agli arpeggi psichedelici. Nei brani del disco scale orientali incontrano riff metal, percussioni africane invadono melodie pop, fraseggi reggae sfociano in suggestioni balcaniche e punk.

“Achtung!” è stato registrato tra Roma e Colonia (Germania), e vanta la produzione artistica di Hannes Jaeckl (che ha collaborato, tra gli altri, con John Oliver, Elvis Jackson, Psycho-Path, Exodus, Paradise Lost, Prong, Amon Amarth e l’Hungarian Gypsy Music Orchestra). Nel disco sono inoltre presenti ospiti prestigiosi quali Srđan Gino Jevđević, cantante dei Kultur Shock (“Afghandub”) e Tommaso “Piotta” Zanello (“Globalover”).

Il 21 giugno 2011  partecipano, unica band italiana invitata, alla Fête de la Musique di Berlino.

Il 25 novembre 2011 si esibiscono a Bari alla prima edizione del Medimex, fiera delle musiche del Mediterraneo.

Achtung!

The banditi  released their second album “Achtung!” in January 2011 after six tours (with 100+ shows) between Italy and Eastern Europe. All this touring brought new influences and gave them inspiration for this extraordinary album. Punk rock, ethno music and electro perfectly match in this new work, produced and recorded by Hannes Jaeckl (worked with John Oliver, Elvis Jackson, Psycho-Path, Exodus, Paradise Lost, Prong, Amon Amarth) between Rome (Italy) and Koln (Germany). Srdjan Gino Yevdjevich (singer of Kultur Shock) is special guest in “Afghandub”, while Piotta (Italian hip hop artist) appears in “Globalover”.

They express themselves through rock, using it as highly eclectic form, opened to different kinds of music: from punk to electronic, from Mediterranean tradition to psychedelic sounds. In their songs, oriental scales meet metal riffs, African percussions invade pop and reggae phrasing flows into Balkan and punk suggestions.

Their live show is awesome and never the same as the band on stage is full of energy, surprising and overwhelming.

Achtung! is distrubuted in Europe by Zyx and in Itali by Halidon; online distibution by Believe.

The Achtung tour 2011 brought the band in Slovenia (Pung Art Festival, with Let3) Croatia (Vum Festival), Italy (both Interzona club and Roma incontra il mondo festival with Kultur Shock). On June 21st 2011 they took part to La Fête de la Musique in Berlin, as the only Italian act scheduled; on November 25th they played in Bari (Italy) at the first edition of Medimex, the mediterranean music expo.

During the winter 2011 they will record a new single due to be released in march 2012.

From Jacinto Canek to The Banditi

The Banditi chose their initial artistic name Jacinto Canek as a tribute to an outlaw and a revolutionary. They started in 2002; in 2007 the debut album “Banditi” came about and the title track had such a profound effect on the whole project, it became a feature so strong and powerful that it imposed itself as the name of the band. Their specific sound has also intrigued Bill Gould, bass player from Faith No More and owner of independent record label Koolarrow Records, who connected them with cult band Kultur Shock from Seattle. The magic has happened. Mutual affinity for music with roots in traditional sounds combined with rock and overwhelming vivacity of their live shows granted them the privilege to open a number of gigs in Italy and abroad on three Kultur Shock’s European tours. For this reason, Srdjan Gino Yevdjevich (the singer of Kultur Shock) is special guest on the new album. New and refreshing style of this band has also conquered Margarita Jimeno, American film director, the author of famous documentary about Gogol Bordello, who directed the first Jacinto Canek’s video clip “Mio Nonno” which was broadcasted heavily throughout 2008 and 2009.
